UNC Asheville’s juried international exhibition, Drawing Discourse, will open with a special event on January 13 featuring Juror, Charles Ritchie. The exhibition features 65 works of contemporary drawing selected from 938 submissions by 297 artists in 6 nations.
Ritchie will provide a lecture about his drawing practice from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023 on the UNC Asheville campus. Charles Ritchie received his BFA in graphic design at the University of Georgia and his MFA in painting at Carnegie Mellon University. His work has been exhibited extensively. Highlights include; Jason Haam in Seoul, South Korea, BravinLee programs, New York, NY; Gallery Joe, Philadelphia, PA; Center Street Studio, Milton, MA; The Bo Bartlett Center in Columbus, GA, and Ballinglen Museum of Contemporary Art, Ballycastle, Ireland just to name a few. Ritchie's works are included in the collection of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, MD; the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University Art Museums, Cambridge, MA; the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY; the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia, PA; Yale University Art Gallery, New Haven, CT; and many more.
Additional programming includes a unique collaboration with Suggested Donation Podcast which will host a special drawing edition with guest artist, Sigal Tsabari.
