Artist Statement
Utilizing appropriated images helps show how establishing my eyes as lenses on societal views of beauty differentiate with every model I choose. The unknowing of who the model is for me plays a role of uncertainty— that feeds my creativity. As I draw to better understand why the distance of the subject matter is inspiring and intriguing, I seek to understand the mystery of that uncertainty. My process begins with acquiring, and creating, order in creative chaos. By using two contrasting media that were a struggle to combine, charcoal and pastel signify how opposites attract and connections come naturally in the end. I seek no validation for my work, the journey is my reward. I created with no thoughts of where it would lead me one day; now, my inspiration knows no limits.
