Artist Statement
Welcome to Naestra, a world that has just begun anew. You are among the first to observe this world, and the fauna you will encounter here are just the start of a wide-reaching story that will be uncovered as time moves forward. Naestra exists to describe the intersectionality of nature and humanity through the lenses of scientific research and storytelling. These pieces are encompassed by a world of imagination, but everything about them- form, color, behavior- are inspired by the biological infrastructure of our own world. This fantastic place is being built to display abstract meanings in a physical manner, to expound upon a story, and to forge something new for someone else. Through its creation I wish to capture the wonder that our own world inspires, and strive to spark curiosity in you. Through Naestra, I convey how science and art complement each other and how their intersection and cooperation allows us to see the world in its fullness.
