Artist Statement

“Making Memories” explores pop media, objects from adolescence, consumerism, and the departure from childhood. These images and objects move beyond autobiography, pointing toward a shared generational identity.

My artwork allows me to connect with and access specific memories and ideas. This provides a way to express and test these ideas by placing them in new settings, where they are free to adapt and explore their own unique contexts. Through this process, I can distill them into a digestible lesson or life moral, uncovering how memory quietly defines the deeper self that guides who we are.

By connecting to the past through painting, I open space for understanding in the present. I have built an archive and framework that helps me process difficult ideas while leaving room for reflection. This archive allows me to break down complex modern issues, becoming an allegory for the ways we navigate memory and the unfolding of life.
