Artist Statement
Recent Works 2023-2024 began as an experiment in serial self-portraiture. Drawing, paper, reflection, mirror: these were the mediums of the project in its earliest phases. But, in time, the drawings began to push against the formal constraints they had previously adhered to. The experiment changed and grew along new lines of thought. New settings; gone were the days of the studio cubicle. New drawings arrived in conference halls, childhood bedrooms, and deli counters. New subjects: dogs, underwear, machinery, knock-down punks. New mediums; breaking ground in urban landscapes and digital suites. Recent Works represents the conclusion of two years of exhaustive research about art and the discipline of drawing.
