Artist Statment

My work aims at finding humor in all things, specifically living in the South, while also appreciating and sharing the beauty I see in it. I want my work to be fully immersive for the viewer because of the larger-than-life compositions full of different subjects. The flow of time and the scale of everything within a piece reflects the flow of consciousness and causes the viewer to find all the details within a piece. My work is comedic but also calming and serene. My love for where I’ve grown up and the pop culture I witnessed shines through in my work, with references to movies like Smokey and the Bandit, comic books from DC Comics, tv shows and cartoons like Looney Tunes, etc. Serene landscapes are also important, growing up in the foothills of Appalachia taught me the beauty of nature. Cartoons have a motion and natural personality that I bring to my work, this mixed with more naturalistic elements allow me to be inventive. These points drive me to make my work.
