Artist Statement
I have always found solace in the diagrammatic world of information, yet as personal data is increasingly weaponized, I now view this systemic order as a form of total-observation. My work examines the inherent fear dichotomy of the contemporary surveillance state, how systems engineered to protect simultaneously manufacture and sustain new anxieties. Working with highly accessible, office-grade materials, I deliberately appropriate the banality of bureaucratic control. I translate the aesthetics of cartography, military strategy, and pixel graphics into a combined visual vocabulary to map the visible and invisible architectures of institutional concealment. Beginning with digital collages of personal photos, public domain imagery, and live CCTV footage, I use an invented, gridded value system of drawing to construct and deconstruct space. My practice employs the grid to plot the psychological weight of tracking, offering a visual critique of state apparatuses and the commodification of behavior under surveillance capitalism.
