Nick Raynolds studied Art in Vancouver and Halifax, Canada; Düsseldorf, Germany and at the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn, New York. He has exhibited his work nationally and abroad and has taught at numerous private and public institutions including at the National Academy of Design NY, The Art Students League of New York and UNCAsheville where he is Adjunct Professor teaching Foundation Drawing.

Raynolds is a classically trained painter whose current work focuses on fantastic invention and the imaginative. Seen through a lens of suspended rationality, his paintings, drawings and zines recognize that his internal landscape is often a mélange of contradictory cultural artifacts from films, comics and literature, current events, art history and philosophy. In the tradition of artists accessing their subconscious, Raynolds frequently works with a sense of intuitive free association reflecting his interest in the more eccentric aspects of the Western canon of Art History. He works primarily in drawing and oil painting.
